Holly Scoggins
Plant Backstory
Holly Scoggins is an associate professor in the department of horticulture, and the director of the Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech, where she teaches courses in greenhouse management, ornamental plant production and marketing, herbaceous landscape plants and public gardens. Her research focuses on propagation and production of perennials. As garden director she has many roles, including administrator, newsletter publisher, web mistress, fund-raiser, party thrower, and herbaceous plant geek. Holly is a frequent presenter to both industry and civilian gardeners on a wide variety of topics, and she received the Perennial Plant Association’s 2008 Academic Award for exceptional leadership in education to students and industry members. She writes for the Garden Professor’s blog, and never turns down a free plant.
